I appreciate the pricing, in reply to the other review of this product. They’re $16/ea from Academy or Basspro, so $80 plus tax for 5 and you’re getting a free mag, it’s definitely a $100 value. At minimum you’re getting 25% off.
The ability to use in left hand config compared to stock Glock mags, is keeping me using these.
The stiffness of the spring is the only reason I’m not giving a 5*, I’ve struggled to get 16 in the mags, but I’ve seen people say they loosen up after leaving them loaded for a while.
Come on guys this is not a “$100” value on sale for 61.50. What’s the cost per magazine? Why don’t you actually do a sale? Not sell us the illusion of one.
Can someone get this in green dot?
Ordered the “+1” extension. Was kinda worried when I first installed it. Putting that 11th round in there was tough. And getting it seated in the gun was even worse. Could barely rack the slide. But after a few times loading the extra round, seating and cycling the slide, it seams to have worked itself in. Does help greatly having the extra room for the pinky. Would have given it 5 stars if it wasn’t for that initial break in.
Screws are labeled right–Holosun screw is flush.
**Remember to order extras as these are super soft and strip out after one use (and you’ll likely strip the ones in the gun to get the optic plate cover removed).
Be very careful…… The picture shows 2 screws and at the price of $2 one would think that you would be getting 2 screws, however you only get one…. Now I have to order another $2 screw and pay $6 shipping again. This fine detail is buried in the middle of the description…..
PLEASE tell us which screw is the FLAT/FLUSH head. I have a holosun EPS and don’t want the screw sticking up. From what I can tell, Screw #2 is the flush-fitting one and what works best on HOLOSUNS.
I have over 500rds of amo through this firearm. No malfunctions of any kind. I use only 124gr bullets for carry and training. I carry Ranger T-series 124gr+P. Accuracy is excellent, if you cant hit with this gun, its you. I carry this firearm 50+ hours a week for work.
I recently purchased a CR920 Combat Optic Cut and absolutely enjoy the feel of this firearm. I was a bit skeptical with another sub-compact as I have had and got rid of a few to include the Hellcat, Shield Plus, and a few others.
I did not like how the magazines or extended magazines alway get a “pinch” when shooting and was hoping this would not be the case with the CR920. I was pleasantly surprised and did not have that issue with the CR920.
Put it through the break in and had two issues, fail to go into battery with 1st round for first shots with the 10rd magazine but worked that out and got the round to chamber and then 1 stovepipe which was probably my issue and not the gun. Several hundred rounds of 115g & 124g FMJ and 5 different defensive rds of 124g & 147g JHP and no issues.
I had added a 507K Green Dot and got that sighted in.
I was currently carry a P365XL or P365X-Macro for the most part and a Hellcat Pro.
The CR920 is now my new EDC. I have put a lot of additional rounds down range since initial break in and had no issues and love how easy it is to conceal with the 10Rd w/Pinky extension (waiting for the +1 extensions to be available again or with the 13Rd magazines.
Quality as I expected as I have had and going to get another DR920, currently have the DR920P which is an excellent firearm, an XR920 Combat and MR920L Elite. Love them all and carry them all in rotation depending on the day.
Now you all will be releasing the CR920P which I need to add to my SS collection or hope the barrel/comp. will be available for purchase after the firearm releases.
I have had nothing but problems with Shadow Systems. I purchased a CR920, put hundreds of rounds through it, and it constantly had failures to feed. Jammed very, very frequently. I sent the gun back to them for repair. They told me they fixed it, and sent it back to me. It still jammed with any type of ammo I put through it. I sent it back to them (again), and they sent me another gun. Got the second gun, and after several hundred rounds, this gun also jammed on most magazines. This gun even damaged two bullets, creating 2 deep gouges in the bullet. So I sent it back. They just emailed me back and told me there was nothing wrong with the gun, and were sending it back. Do not buy this gun. In fact, do not trust Shadow Systems. They say they are focused on customer satisfaction. Their products are faulty and they seem uninterested in customer satisfaction.
I want to start by saying i am not one to leave bad reviews. I bought this gun to support a local company as i live in Prosper TX. I have only had the gun for two weeks and after the first time shooting it the bronze barrel is already chipping in one spot. Overall this is a fantastic gun but if i knew the barrel wouldn’t last i would have just bought the black barrel instead.
I have has both Glock 43’s, S&W Shield M2 Performance Center 9mm, and Springfield CSX Mod 2 9mm. Thought I had some of the best made and my EDC was the Hellcat or the Shield. Went in my local Gun Shop and saw this CR920 and ask to hold it, wish I hadn’t ask. The CR920 Combat fit like a leather glove today I have fired about 150 rnds with not hiccups. Trigger tested at 5lb 2 oz. The muzzle flip is about the same as the Ported Shield but the frame fits my hand better than the 3 named above. A WINNER FOR SURE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok well I decided my 920 needed a little brother and it’s perfect!!
Gun shoots great I had a mr920 for 3 weeks and had to buy this gun after shooting it. Superaccurate it does shoot like a full size very happy with purchase
I’ve been waiting on Glock to make a similar gun to the CR920 for a few years now and I thought I was settling for the CR920. Boy was I wrong. I currently carry a Glock 43 or 48 depending on the weather, however, this will be replacing both. It shoots great, I completed the 200rnd break-in period without a single malfunction . Accuracy is excellent. I couldn’t be happier. I’ve always been a diehard Glock fan, but I’ll be adding some Shadow Systems guns to my collection.
Good gun however front sight doesn’t glow at all.
Picked up the CR920 Combat last Thursday, cleaned it that night and took it to the range the next day. I wanted to put 200 rounds through it, however the frame started to get hot at around 165 rounds and shut it down. Hopefully, I won’t be getting into any fire fights anytime soon. I’ve ran around 500 rounds through it with no malfunctions.
I picked up an inexpensive Desantis holster at my local range for the 43X MOS and fits perfectly. This pistol is now my summer carry gun. Will be picking up either a MR920 or XR920, just shopping around for the best price.
So it’s been several months, but I finally finished 1,000 rounds with my CR920 Elite. Used seven or eight brands of ammo of varying quality. Performed beautifully! Smooth and accurate. It is my pocket EDC in an Alabama holster.
Hands down the best CCW that I have owned, its just a great package right out of the box.
Received my new CR920P from my local dealer today and it is outstanding quality and function. Matches my other Shadow Systems handguns. Great Job!
Love this pistol, is now my EDC CCW, Looks, Capacity, it’s got it all. I used to always state “I carry a Glock because I don’t want my expensive guns confiscated if I have to use it to defend myself”
Shadow Systems will replace your firearm if that happens…WOW, talk about a Badass Company
I loved mine so much, I bought my wife a CR920 Combat.
I am truly impressed.
I have 4 shadow systems guns. The cr920 elite, dr920 elite, and 2 mr920 elites. I need a new slide for the cr920 and no matter how hard I try I cannot get someone on the phone to order a new part. They have no customer service. I have had zero problems with any of the guns except for the cr920. I love what this company is attempting to do with their guns but they’re falling short. There is no excuse for this kind of terrible service when you charge the kind of money that you do. I’d probably skip the cr920 if I were you. If there is an issue with it good luck getting help.
Very disappointed with this pistol. After exceeding the recommended break in rounds, I attempted to use this pistol in a training course. The pistol functioned ok for the first 3 rounds then had a failure to feed followed by 4 light primer strikes. The instructor retrieved the 5 rounds & suggested I use another pistol to finish the course. I got another pistol from my bag & the instructor loaded the 5 rounds into it- all 5 functioned. Contacted Shadow Systems & returned the pistol 2 weeks ago. I am extremely disappointed in this product, it certainly has not lived up to my quality & reliability expectations. Sadly, I cannot trust this pistol as an EDC when it’s returned & will be left with a rebuilt version of a new pistol. For the premium price I paid, I regret my decision to purchase this pistol.
So bought the cr920 with great excitement but when I started the 200 round break in process I was not satisfied. I put 500 rounds through in one session had multiple failures to feed. Then when I got home tore it down to clean it I was very upset at how much oilthe manufacture put all over it. The manual says to not oil the extractor or the any part of the firing pin. There was some on the firing pin and extractor that everything was covered in powder residue and very gritty and made the slide very stiff. Next I noticed that the front sight was not straight and true when so I removed it to find out that it was not machined correctly. So this impedes the ability to shoot straight very poor quality control for this very expensive gun. I have now put over a 1000 rounds through it and can say that I am not pleased with this product and the spacers for the optic mount are too thick and cause it to push up the front of my red dot. Yes I am using the correct spacer for my swampfox sentinel per the cr920 manual that came with it.
I have never had an issue with any other of my shadow systems guns except for the CR920. I had just purchased it, cleaned and oiled it. Took it to the range and out of 20 rounds I had 12 failure to feed the first round into the gun and then while firing I had 7 more. I was highly disappointed after a long anticipated arrival of this gun. I’m hoping it does better after the gun breaks in but for out of the box it didn’t meet my expectation.
Purchased a CR 920 elite back in October took it to the range to do some shooting after the first couple rounds realize damage to the barrel .so I started the process with customer service at the beginning it was going fine but after they receive my firearm, I personally have to send another email or call to get any kind of response just to find out that the slide was made out of spec. There’s no timeline that they can give me on estimates only that it takes 15 to 20 business days yet we’re on day 30 still no upsldate . It’s quite unfortunate I own three other shadow systems and love them dearly and up until this issue shadow Systems is a great company to deal with. I’ve never had any problems with them but dealing with this situation and customer service is very unfortunate and disappointing. Hopefully shadow Systems will resolve this issue soon.
Well true to its reputation round number 1, failure. 199 rounds later, smooth as butter and deadly accurate. In my personal limited shooting experience, at least in comparison to people who have military and or just lots of rounds down range experience, this is hands down the best experience on a new cc gun I’ve ever had to start with. While it is much snappier than it’s big brother the mr920 it sits in the hand quite well and surprisingly for its size is quite controlable despite the snap. Trigger is firm but nice and crisp. Overall, while a bit pricer than the elite or combat models the red dot on the WP is phenomenal. Great job Shadow Systems, you have a great product line and I look forward to future platforms.
The War poet CR 920 is the very first pistol I have ever had that is perfect right out of the box. It shoots very comfortably, just as well as my full size pistols. The Glock 43 is officially retired. I have short fingers, so I need a smaller gun, and this fits the bill quite nicely. I agree with John Lovell, this is my new edc. Now, next up, you guys need to adapt it to the slightly larger G48 size. Keep the slim grip, and have it use the 15 rd shield magazine, or go for more if you are adventurous. I guarantee I will buy one of them if you do!
Just get the CR920 you won’t regret it!
Just purchased a CR920 Elite. It is the most well built pistol I have ever owned. Although I paid generously for it, the old saying you get what you pay for. This is by no means a sub-par or an okay pistol. It is by far the most shootable pistol that I could shoot all day at the range. It’s looks are superior to others. Just ordered a Shield RMSc red dot for it. Very easy to carry. And 13 rounds. You guys did an EXCELLENT job on the CR. Love the bronze barrel. Very easy to clean.
Keep up the great work.
Thanks
Purchased a CR920 Elite. You get what you pay for. I can’t wait to get to the range 2 times a week. This gun is amazing. The quality of the pistol is very high. The parts are very high quality. The customer service is very high. The videos are very helpful. Please make a video on the disassembly of the 13 round CR920 mag. I got a Shield RMSc red dot sight and it fit like a glove. Your Operation Manual is very informative. When I go to the gun shop now I go straight to the SS counter. I have a little over 1,000 rounds and the trigger just keeps getting better. I love the bronze barrel.
JUST A GREAT PRODUCT. KEEP IT UP.
I must say I was impressed the first time I held this pistol. I have ran 74 flawless rounds thru this pistol. It is everything I expected. An absolutely GREAT conceal carry pistol.
My new CR920 elite was damaging the barrel after just a couple shots. I emailed Shadow Systems and they wanted to look at it. I sent it in, and I called them after a couple weeks of them receiving it and they told me the slide was out of spec and was damaging the barrel. They said they were waiting for parts to complete the repair. I replied immediately and asked them if they could give me an estimated ETA when the parts would be available and they stopped replying. I have sent them multiple emails, left a Facebook message and two voicemails and with no response. I am sitting at 4 weeks now with no idea now because they wont reply to any message I send them.
I purchased the SS-CR920 Elite about a month ago. Customer service was great and verified I got a recent model with all the revisions (Trigger & Barrel).
ZERO malfunction during the 200 break in period… and boy is the tigger smooth now.
Picked up a Black Smith Tactical G43X MOS Flex rig as well as a T1C Axis-Elite and the fit is perfect.
I loved the CR920 so much I HAD to purchase the War Poet edition.
Thank you,
Shadow Systems
Shadow Systems Team,
I want to thank all involved as my CR 920 Elite & my Dr 920 combat are without question the best guns I have ever owned. 200 plus rounds through both platforms, no feeding issues, consistent groups and smooth shooting.
Keep up the great work & I am very much looking forward to your future releases.
Respectfully,
Mike
Recently took the CR920 to the range to see what it would do. Was expecting some minor issues, as I had not yet went through the break in period, but no, the gun performed flawlessly. I only had one issue, and it has nothing to do with product design or functionality. I have HUGE hands, and I had a problem getting a comfortable grip on it. Let’s face it, when you have hands my size, sub-compact is not what you need to shoot. Other than that, this gun is awesome! I also have the MR920L, which is perfectly sized for me, and is another great handgun. Anytime I am at the range or gun shop, I highly recommend Shadow Systems products to other customers. Thank you for making such a wonderful line of handguns. Keep up the great work!
Just received my new barrel. Very pleased, it arrived sooner than i expected and looks great. A light logo is all that appears to be blemished and otherwise it is in fantastic shape. Always a good buy when you order from these folks! Highly recommend!
Being an owner of a glock 19 and just love how they fit my hand got to say nailed it love my DR 920 so much shoots even better than my glock 19 I know it’s more of the 17 size but I can’t stop picking this up I’ve had it for a week now put roughly 200 rounds in it and have no issues besides the squeaky recoil spring and I’m looking in to that wanna break it in more to see if it dissappears later but other than that right out of the box and adding oil before shooting this will run only thing was for the fist two mags first round on both would go in to battery fully but as it being new I really expected something to happen my wife shot it and failures every were but it was user error she limp wristed it and just failure to feed but its perfect for me I love it can’t seem to let go of it let alone leave it home it is my edc and duty weapon but shadow systems you guys got me hooked I will be buying more from you guys and hopefully have the line up
Before we get to involved in a review let’s cut right through the chase and answer the obvious question. Would I recommend the Shadow Systems gun over a Glock? Well, to be decisive and quick to the point, maybe. I might even go so far as to say, it depends.
I had been thinking about getting a new Glock 17, Gen 5, to replace the one I have. My 17 doesn’t have front cocking serrations, some might say big deal, but I like cocking serrations. While I was at it I thought I might as well get an MOS gun too.
The Shadow Systems gun has a lot of features that I like the sound of, so I watched a hundred videos and read more reviews than I can count, then I headed to a large stocking dealer for some hands on time. To be honest I wasn’t that impressed once I put my hands on a Shadow Systems gun. I looked at everything from CR’s to DR920P’s. The guns seemed nice, but not twice the Glock price nice (I qualify for Blue Label pricing).
I decided I wanted to try the Shadow Systems gun anyway, but at a cheaper price. Enter the DR920 Foundation series. A little higher than the Glock, but not too bad of a stretch to get the more featured Shadow System gun. Online the Foundation runs $669 plus all the fees, taxes, and what nots. My local gun store sold one to me for $650 out the door.
Out of the box I was pleased. Fit and finish are good, and I really like the grip texture. The interchangeable back straps were the number one feature I wanted and I quickly put the thinnest one on. The advertising says the thinnest makes the grip similar to that of a 1911. The advertising lied.
Now I’m not saying that having a 1911 style grip was the only reason I bought the gun. I knew changing a back strap was not going to fundamentally change the grip angle, but I really expected a bigger difference between the Shadow Systems gun and a Glock.
The grip texture and the frame side stippling/gas pedal is a worthwhile upgrade from a Glock frame and the steel sights are clearly an upgrade from plastic. The Foundation model comes with steel sights with a white dot front and blacked out rear. I replaced the sights with some Ameriglo sights with an orange front and blacked out rear, cost was $55. Higher line models from Shadow Systems come with night sights, but all my guns wear orange sights so I was going to have to buy sights regardless of model I chose. I will say that the sight fit was the tightest I have ever seen on a Glock pattern gun. Maybe my sights were slightly oversized, maybe the Shadow System dovetail is cut a little smaller. I don’t know, but without a sight pusher tool I would have never gotten them installed.
Everything I read about a Shadow System gun always mentions a 200 round break in period. I’m not sure how I feel about that. I think a polymer gun should be ready from the factory. Anyway, in the first 10 rounds the gun hung up on feeding six times. After that I didn’t put but 2-3 rounds in a magazine at a time and the gun worked. It seemed to be struggling to run, but it did cycle.
Before I had started shooting I had taken the gun apart and it was oiled, but now 20 rounds into my break in I took it apart and oiled it some more. The gun came with a sample pack of Lucas oil. I used it all. The gun literally had oil dripping from the frame now.
I stuck with magazines with 10 rounds in them. The gun immediately was able to feed from them. By round 50 the gun was feeling like a different gun than what I had started with. By round 100 I was thoroughly pleased with the gun and happy that I had gotten it to replace my Glock.
I can tell you I seemed to shoot the DR920 more accurately than my G17. I can tell you the trigger, after 100 rounds was better than my broken in Gen 5 G17. I can tell you side by side I’d take the DR920.
Now for the flip side on some things. The DR920 is only slightly better in any single area. The grip finish texture is slightly better, the adjustable back straps make the grip angle slightly better, the trigger feel is slightly better, the slide serrations are slightly better, the sights are slightly better, the gun seems to shoot slightly better.
What does all that slightly add up to? Well, if you like a Glock you will like the Shadow Systems gun more. If you really don’t like a Glock, the Shadow System gun won’t change your mind. I think all the slight improvements add up to a worthwhile upgrade, at the Foundation price point. For myself I wouldn’t consider the Combat or Elite models. Slide windows and colorful barrels just don’t impress me.
So, would I recommend a Shadow System gun? If you like a Glock you will like a Shadow System gun. You should get one.
If you are like me, have, and tolerate/respect a Glock, but prefer a 1911, then you will like the upgrade to a Shadow System gun and should get one.
If you don’t like a Glock, generally don’t like the grip angle or trigger, then the Shadow System gun won’t change your opinion. Don’t get one, you’ll be disappointed.
So there you have it. My recommendation as to whether you should get a Shadow Systems DR920 Foundation.
A definite maybe.
I bought a DR920 and I liked it so much I decided to get a CR920 since don’t really like carrying a full sized 9mm. It’s too bulky.
This gun fits so well in the hand thanks to the unique way they sat up the back straps they don’t just change the size but change the grip and how the gun feels meaning if you’ve ever had a handgun you’ll find a grip that’s comfortable for you. Its a nail driver right out of the box and the over all construction of the gun is one of Texas and Americans pride and love. Very happy with my gun and hope to buy a few more models down the road.
I have a lot of guns. I just bought the DR920 after reading the reviews and watching several videos including John Lovell’s. This is a great and accurate gun.
I am not sure on the mag release I think it would benefit from a bit more meat on it.
I have had zero issues in the first 1000 rounds down range.
My Shadow Systems DR 920 has really made my range visits exciting again! I just love the way it shoots and handles. I have mine configured with standard iron sights and a compensator. It is highly accurate and follow up shots can be fired with incredible speed and precision.
Instantly this pistol has eclipsed all others for me. It’s combination of looks, performance, reliability, and value simply place it in another category.
I just love it!
Went to my LGS last week to buy a G17 that I could build up as a host for a suppressor I ordered a couple months ago. Surprisingly, they didn’t have any G17s (or even a full size P320, which would have been an acceptable substitute) so I almost gave up. Sensing my disappointment, the salesman asked me how he could help. I told him what I was looking for and he suggested a DR920 with the threaded barrel. I had heard of Shadow Systems from John Lovell, but I’d personally never fired one. That being said, I’ve had several custom Glocks built for me, and they usually cost me nearly twice what the DR920 was priced at, so I figured I couldn’t lose.
I finally took it to the range yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised. With the target at 6 yards, my holes were touching and I’m honestly not that great of a shooter. Even speeding up my shots, almost to what I’d consider “rapid fire”, my groups were only around 4”. I don’t know what kind of magic Shadow Systems puts in these guns, but I shot my DR920 better than I shoot my stock G17 Gen5, and I shoot that G17 a lot! Then when you consider that the DR920 comes with a threaded barrel AND an optic cut right out of the box, I think this may be the best value in handguns today!
I’m very happy with my Shadow Systems DR920, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

I absolutely love this firearm. It shoots like a dream and is very accurate. Magazine changes are smooth and fast. Good job Shadow Systems.
I’ve shot dozens of pistols. This is by far my favorite that I own and won’t be getting rid of it. Yes, you need to break it in with 124gr ammo, but then it becomes something amazing. If you want something that can do it all buy this pistol. It’s the perfect size, light, shoots amazing, and is the best value in the industry. The company is amazing with customer service if you have questions. Don’t hesitate if you need a do it all gun!
I purchased a MR918 Combat back in 2019 I liked it enough that I followed it up with a MR918 Elite and mounted a Trijicon RMR. I got an opportunity to put my hands on a DR920 Combat a couple weeks ago. As soon as I picked it up I knew. It fit my hand like it was meant to be there. I’ve only put 500 rounds through it since then but in my opinion the DR920 is the best out of the box defensive handgun I have ever shot. I carry it concealed on a daily basis. Great Job Guy’s!!
I just picked up my DR920 this week and put 500+ rounds of various brands through it today. It worked perfectly with all the different brands I used. I shot at 5m, 10m, and 25m and the DR920 stayed on target every shot. I will highly recommend the DR920 for your next pistol purchase. It’s definitely an upgrade from whatever you are shooting or carrying now.
I carried the glock series at work for 14 years and never really cared for them that much. I got medically retired and about 5 years later picked up a MR918 combat and told my friend I had to have it. I purchased it from him and fell in love with it. I carried it for about a year and it ran flawlessly. Loved it so much that I now have a MR920 combat and soon it will be my new daily carry. Love the customer service as well.
The mr920 combat is the perfect pistol to fit my needs.I purchased this solely to protect my family.I definitely don’t have the time I would like to spend on the range vs pre kids, but the way SS designed the different grips is genius.I just practice dry firing and my sights are aligned almost immediately since the grip angle fits naturally with my hands when I present the pistol, I’m already ‘zeroed in’. I have many different 9mm pistols, and I’m much slower at sight alignment with those. It’s also ridiculously light compared the others’. Their customer is so proactive! I contacted them and they ensured I was taken care of! Plus, I live in the same city and always support local business’! Thanks for providing a quality product with exceptional service!
This is my third SSC handgun; also owning an MR920 and MR920L. There are marked improvements in the design here. The striker has been redesigned, a striker return assist spring has been added, and the firing system springs appear to be different. Those changes have resulted in a greatly improved trigger feel for the everyday end-user.
My use case is different. I want this to be a competition gun. All it took was a mirrored finish polishing of the trigger group’s metal contact points and a lighter weight firing pin safety spring to tune this sucker into my perfect trigger.
The ergonomics are equally as outstanding as the MR versions, which are the best in the game. The accuracy is excellent right out of the box.
The gun’s metal finish is simply outstanding. In the strangest turn of events, I was at a gravel range and a gust of wind blew my gun mat and empty DR920 off my shooting bench before I’d even had a chance to fire it for the first time. It landed in the gravel and bounced around a bit. I picked it up and, even after a 3′ drop into gravel, there wasn’t a single scratch on it.
My only complaint is that it’s difficult to find front/rear competition sight sets that are compatible with any SSC guns. I don’t run a red dot due vision astigmatism. I want a set of competition sights and there just aren’t any out there. I’m experimenting with some Ameriglo custom combos right now and having only a fair amount of luck. To be clear, there are plenty of excellent combat/duty sight sets out there which are compatible.
Yeah, that was wordy, but there’s a lot to say. Hopefully this review helps you with your decision no matter your use case. These are awesome guns and I haven’t looked back at Glock since discovering Shadow Systems.
I have a DR 920 I carry on duty as a police officer. I have an optic mounted on it and this is the flattest shooting most accurate and reliable pistol I’ve shot
Bought the DR920 a few weeks ago, been breaking it in during this fun ammo shortage. So far so good, I have several shadow systems products and they never disappoint me, will eventually transition DR920 into a duty role
This is a great gun when added with a suppressor it shoots great and is so quiet. The cycling of rounds is butter smooth. I want to get and elite next.
I currently carry a DR920 as my duty pistol. It replaced my MR920L as my duty firearm. I was extremely pleased with my MR920L but I wanted a Glock 17 sized pistol. My DR920 is extremely soft shooting. It is extremely accurate. I have never had a malfunction. Everyone who has shot this pistol has been very impressed. I chose this pistol as my duty pistol. That’s the best recommendation I can make
Bought the DR920 after I already purchased both MR920 variants while looking for a competition rig. The MR format was incredible, fast, compact and everything I expect with a G19 Gen5 but the DR920 gave me a slightly larger grip and better recoil control that absolutely crushed my accuracy goals.
Quality
I purchased this pistol not knowing a whole lot about the company. I liked all the stippling, the weight and size and the fact it is compatible with all G19 items.
I took it to the range the day after I received it and fired the 200 break in rounds. I was made a beleiver about the MR920 shooting fast and flat.
I am always on the look out for an DR920. I carry the issued G17 at work but will switch when I am able to get a DR 920. The MR 920 is my EDC/off duty choice.
This pistol is a home run of a design and set up.
Absolutely amazing is the first thought that crossed my mind the first time you unbox and people drool on it at the range
This model is better than expected, it is lighter and easier to handle than my Glock 19. It has easily become my favorite go to in my safe.
Bought the MR920 elite and loved it so much after breaking it in(200 round break in) I have shot over 800 so far through it and it handles great. Had to go back and get its big brother DR920 elite. So now I own 2x shadow elites.
I’m going to start by saying I am not a Glock fan. My wife loves them. I preferred my CZ P10. Nothing wrong with Glocks they just don’t fit my hands well. So needless to say I wanted another polymer wonder gun! I then took a chance on a DR920 because of the reviews I’ve seen. I did not hold one first and thought man I hope I didn’t throw my money away or it’s going to go to my wife! Soon as I got it I thought wow this looks and feels incredible, I hope it shoots as good as it looks and feels. Let me tell you it did not disappoint! I think it will be my new go to and I think I’m going to sell my 365 for a cr920 next!
Well I was looking for a “workin gun” for some time , 2 years… and finally stoped at Ss920 , let me tell you that it was the Best feet for me out of many, and more expensive guns.
I followed the break in process with 0 problems, and at about 1000 round s I got a new Glock magazine, at that point I dataset having FTF problems etc, After call to SS support they suggested to check on the MAG , and what you know… Glock mag had a follower problem. Replaced it with a new Meg and 0 problems after 2-3k rounds in r weeks.
I love the accuracy of the SS920 super flat , fast and low recoil.
P.S this is my EDC and now I trust it for its purpose.

This is my personal review of the Shadow Systems DR920 Elite.
I purchased my DR920 Elite locally after watching and reading many reviews.
I work as an elected county sheriff in West Texas. My county is a border county with Mexico. It’s a tough area, sometimes remote and always “interesting”. The firearm I carry to protect me as well as others must be 100% reliable. I demand nothing less. Lives depended on it.
Being a gun-guy, I have many different pistols, to include Glocks. I’m also a Glock Armorer and enjoy working on them for myself and others. I’m also a firearms Instructor.
After purchasing my DR920 I brought it home and field stripped it, cleaned it and applied CLP as directed. Then I went to the range.
I was aware of the recommended break-in period and had recently watched the Guns America review on an MR920. So, let’s begin.
I fired a total of 400 rounds of 9mm ammo through my DR920 Elite. Everything from Federal 115gr FMJ, Blazer Brass 124gr FMJ and Hornady Critical Duty 135gr Flexlock. I used the included Magpul mags and Glock 17 mags with stock baseplates and mags with extended plus five baseplates. I was not gentle, the gun got warmed up real nice! I shot paper and steel, ran several drills in the hot West Texas sun and dirt. Result?
My DR920 Elite had ZERO malfunctions of any kind…ZERO. It functioned perfectly, was accurate, and the ergonomics far exceeded my expectations. I also brought with me a Gen 5 Glock 45, 9mm just for a little friendly competition, which, as it turned out, was no competition.
Final thoughts. I can carry whatever I want. “My” Shadow Systems DR920 Elite now rests in my duty holster and is on “Active Duty”. Saving up for another one!
Five stars!
I have never been a Glock guy. This is not a Glock clone but rather an amazing firearm that stands on its own. Has everything you would want in a firearm and more. This is only my first Shadow Systems but it won’t be my last.
I’m in love with this pistol to say the least. The customer service on the other hand I’m not sure about. I’ve call several times and left a couple of voicemails and I’ve sent an email. I’m still waiting for someone to respond.
I went to go buy my first striker fired pistol and everyone kept telling me to buy a Glock. I have an issue with not keeping things “basic” so I went through and priced out buying a Glock 17 with all of the upgrades I wanted for it. As I was doing that I came across the Shadow Systems small area of a case my local store and looked at the DR920 Elite which had everything I would have upgraded in the Glock 17. I instantly loved the feel and the looks and decided to buy it that day. I have never been happier with a handgun! It is my primary home defense gun as well now.
I’ll try to be as unbiased as possible. I bought a DR920 Elite. For the first 1000 rounds it worked flawlessly. After 1000 rounds I had 3-5 “Failure to reset” the TRIGGER per 100 rounds up to 1300 rounds. At the first 7 failures to reset I stopped shooting it. Called Shadow Systems and they sent me a new Trigger. I was happy they sent me one to replace! But! The same problem happened. Shot a few hundred more and more failures to reset. I sent it in for warranty work (quick turn around- approx a week) to which the only service done was putting a new trigger on it and sending it back. They assured me they test fired it and it didn’t have any problems. I asked if they would re run the measurements (slide, firing pin, etc) but they didn’t. I then took it to the range for testing again just to have MORE FAILURES TO RESET. I sent videos with proof of it happening. This time it was 4-5 times per 50 rounds. I was sent another shipping label to send it in again. ( this here is my own ego ) – I went and bought another gun to EDC, threw my $1000 gun in my safe out of frustration where it will sit forever. If I can’t trust my sidekick I don’t trust it in anyone else’s hands. Maybe I got a wild flyer gun. A fluke or something crazy abnormal.
The staff (Josh) who I worked with was great! And easy to work with. It most likely was not his fault for not having it checked out completely while it was there for warranty work.
115-124-147 gr. Federal/ Winchester 1700 rounds total
Hundreds $$ in ammo and hardware wasted
Not only is this pistol very well made, it also looks amazing. Feels absolutely perfect in the hand and the texturing isn’t too abrasive. I’m very happy that I decided to purchase this pistol instead of spending a lot more money and time customizing one myself. Highly recommended.
While I like everything about the looks and feel of my new pistol, I haven’t actually shot it yet.
The correct spacer for my red dot was accidentally left out of the package (stuff happens).
I called Shadow Systems and they had it to me in a very few days. No hassle. I appreciate service like that!
DR920 elite non-threaded barrel in black – all the good stuff you expect. The backstrap and magwell system is easy to swap and works. Zeroed the red dot @15 yards and found the gun very accurate.
My break in period consisted of the slide locking open after each shot for 2 mags. In fact I thought the Pmag Shadow Systems included may have been the issue so I swapped to a Glock mag, same issue. Popped out the pin and slide stop, quick inspection then put it back and got 2 consecutive rounds to fire. Third mag got longer strings, by the end of the fourth mag issue was resolved.
I was pretty nervous as locking the slide after every round seems like a steep break in. After 50 rounds that issue is gone. Approximately 160 rounds fired today, I’ll runt at least 100 through it next week to check again. Otherwise great gun.
Just wanted say thank you guys and keep up the good work my shadow system is by far the best poly gun I have owed so far kinda have tryied a lot out these last two years from sig legend 320 ,365xl,czp10 ,Glock 17 ,19 , 20 spring field xd9 , smith &Wesson’s mp pro
Canik tpsf9
Q5 match polymer frame
And now shadow systems dr920 I really like everything this gun comes with stock with I am pretty amazed with that value I changed my trigger only because had it laying around I have fully taken this gun apart so much quality in her from stock the dr920 is my edc/range gun/Gucci accessory
I’ve had this dr920 elite for a month now and it’s run flawlessly with 500rds so far. I really like how you can get such a capable pistol for less than upgrading a stock glock. I have zero complaints with it and I really hope they come out with a g43 size variant soon so my wife can upgrade her edc as well.
I bought a DR920 in June. It was my first gun purchase ever. It is a great gun. I thought it was going to take a while to get better but with this gun in only a few weeks I am shooting like a seasoned veteran shooter. A few guys that work at the range have tried it and when they shoot it their eyes light up. They all carry Glocks and everyone one of them say this is a great shooting gun. They love it. I am very happy i bought a shadow system and not a glock. Glocks are great guns but this is a step up.
Ok
I recently purchased my second Shadow Systems DR920, one is the Elite model the other a Warrior Poet Society edition and all I can say is what a great pistol. In addition to being an incredible weapons platform Shadow Systems has proven to be customer centric. When I bought my first DR920 it unfortunately shipped with 2 of the back straps for the compact model. All it took was one phone call, answered on the second ring I might add, and in no time at all I had said back straps in hand. Then today 9/20/21 while at my local LGS I happened to run into two of Shadow Systems reps in the parking lot, what a great couple of guys. After a really nice conversation the guys were kind enough to hook me up with some moral patches, stickers and a pen. Like I said in the subject line great pistol great company and good really good people. I’ve owned and carried glocks for over 20 years and can confidently say Shadow Systems has not only raised the bar they have brought to market a weapons platform I trust my life and those I love and care for with thank you Shadow Systems
Fantastic firearm. Flat shooting… It just makes me smile how good it is. I already own a mr920 and was looking forward for the DR920. Both guns are developed with common sense shooting fundamentals. If you are considering buying this gun–you should.
I have owned and been shooting Glock pistols for 30 years now.
The Shadow Systems DR920 is the perfect modernization of a great platform.
You simply can not beat the value of these pistols for all the custom features, the fit and finish, the performance.
No other optic mounting system compares to these.

Ive lost count of how many rounds ive put through this guy already, but its well over 2k
I got this gun to replace my ss9f and im sure glad I did, its quite the upgrade.
Have both the MR920 Elite and DR920 Elite let me tell you I probably never buy another Glock go shoots a SHADOW SYSTEM MR920 or DR920 than you’ll understand!
Absolutely in love with my 920. Has replaced a few of my 19s for my fav gun. May have to add a few more to the collection!
I love these guns. I own a War Piet and a MR920 elite. I’ve run 2k to 3k rounds through my guns a month and I’ve never had a failure. The break in period is very important with these guns but again no failures at all while firing. Thank you Shadow Systems. Great product!
I daily carry an MR920 Combat with a TLR7a, backup is a MR920L Elite and my newest full size is the DR920 Elite, these guns have all performed flawlessly and have protected my family since the release of the MR920.
The ergonomics and overall weight, comfort and accuracy cant be matched unless your willing to drop another $1,000+ into any other handgun.
Love the ergonomics, the shoot ability and the forward thinking design! What every striker fire gun should strive to be
This is my 1st Shadow Systems handgun and after shooting it…….it won’t be my last!
I don’t have many what I consider higher end handguns, but this purchase may just push me over that line. Fit and finish are awesome. Weight is great. Balance is just about perfect.
I’m new to Shadow Systems and hadn’t heard much about them prior, but the fact that a handgun of this style, design and quality is made right here in the good ole USA just sealed the deal for me.
Next on the horizon will be the MR920 elite.
Thanks guys for a great 1st purchase from your company
The reliability and performance on the DR920 has been top tier. The ergonomics, barrel/slide fit, and trigger promote excellent accuracy and follow-up shot consistency. The DR920 points naturally and the lightweight slide on the Elite allows for great recoil control, with quick Dot re-acquisition on RDS Equipped guns. I have been very impressed, and the look on everyone else’s face when they grab it says it all. Awe followed by Jealousy. Great product, keep it up!
Quality is far superior than the standard Glock. Fit and feel is amazing. Love the serrations and slide cuts. Only real issue is on the frame, the gas pedal feature adds some extra material to where the gun is not a clean fit in my G17 holsters.
Really the best u can get for the money. On the world of plastic guns.
And it looks bad ass too.
This is the best full size I have ever shot!! The low bore axis with the ability to change the angle of the grips, and the ability to apply any optical I wish gave me endless possibilities.
Great ergonomics, extremely light, very good quality. Would recommend to anyone as a carry gun.
I like the optic footprint. Accuracy is awesome. Shoots flat. It is very attractive
This pistol has become my edc, my competition pistol and my all around never leave home without it.
This firearm gives me the security of being able to perform on my worst day.
I really appreciate the time and effort given to this firearm. Your support is top level and I thank you.
Before I get slammed here.
I want to validate what I am saying.
I thought it would shoot well and it does.
It shoots better than a stock Glock but there is thing kind of thing sound when pulling the trigger I don’t care for like the sound is resonating inside the gun some where you pull the trigger.
Even Gucci Glock triggers are still crunchy Glock garbage just lighter and slightly smoother to the break.
That break is crunchy in Gucci and regular Glocks.
I just hate it.
The gun just feels to light and not solid.
It shoots well and is accurate.
The flattest gun on the market, thats a joke.
Look at other guns like any staccato P my Walther SF 4 inch and 5 inch.
My Zev 0z9
Any CZ 75 variant, the sig P210.
These are all another 200 to 1500 extra sure but they are way better and flatter guns.
You spend over $1000 for a gun thats worth in value $700.
I just cannot justify this when there are so many other better choices.
The Zev 0z9 eats this thing for lunch in every single way for another $500 or so.
Wouldn’t you rather pay another $500 and get the best version of a Gucci Glock there is, I would.
Even better than the Zev both Walther Steel Frames shoot unbelievably flat and the trigger is the best you can really get for striker fired.
Walther today is probably making the best value Guns for the the Money you spend today.
Meaning for every dollar you spend at Walther they give you tons of Value.
Sig is probably a close second for me.
Staccato is a great Gun but expensive so the gun is great but the value is not.
CZ 75 anyone variant same as Walther unbelievable value for the Money you spend there.
You want people to buy your shadow guns okay then build a better gun or lower the price and people will stop criticizing you.
I feel like I got took for $300 dollars essentially.
The barrel is great, the optics system is a really neat touch.
The trigger well we don’t want to go there.
The slide does not have near that premium feel that zev does.
The frame meh it feels like every Gucci Glock frame.
Credit for the original back strap system however.
Zev is the bar in the Gucci Glock world for a stock gun, it just is..
Very impressed with everything on this system. All the craftsmanship really shows and it’s very impressive. Shot countless rounds through all sorts of glocks and with out a doubt, this one takes the cake. Can’t wait to purchase another. Solid work guys!
Every aspect of the SS MR 920 Elite with a dot optic makes this my favorite handgun…. so much so, I bought 4 more.
Excellent gun no problems have enjoyed shooting the MR20
Couldn’t be any more happier with my SS.
Screws are labeled right–Holosun screw is flush.
**Remember to order extras as these are super soft and strip out after one use (and you’ll likely strip the ones in the gun to get the optic plate cover removed).
Good gun however front sight doesn’t glow at all.
Ok well I decided my 920 needed a little brother and it’s perfect!!
Gun shoots great I had a mr920 for 3 weeks and had to buy this gun after shooting it. Superaccurate it does shoot like a full size very happy with purchase
So it’s been several months, but I finally finished 1,000 rounds with my CR920 Elite. Used seven or eight brands of ammo of varying quality. Performed beautifully! Smooth and accurate. It is my pocket EDC in an Alabama holster.
I must say I was impressed the first time I held this pistol. I have ran 74 flawless rounds thru this pistol. It is everything I expected. An absolutely GREAT conceal carry pistol.
Hands down the best CCW that I have owned, its just a great package right out of the box.
Respectfully,
Mike
Received my new CR920P from my local dealer today and it is outstanding quality and function. Matches my other Shadow Systems handguns. Great Job!
Thanks
KEEP IT UP.
Just received my new barrel. Very pleased, it arrived sooner than i expected and looks great. A light logo is all that appears to be blemished and otherwise it is in fantastic shape. Always a good buy when you order from these folks! Highly recommend!
This model is better than expected, it is lighter and easier to handle than my Glock 19. It has easily become my favorite go to in my safe.

That’s the best recommendation I can make
My Shadow Systems DR 920 has really made my range visits exciting again!
I have a DR 920 I carry on duty as a police officer. I have an optic mounted on it and this is the flattest shooting most accurate and reliable pistol I’ve shot
Being an owner of a glock 19 and just love how they fit my hand got to say nailed it love my DR 920 so much shoots even better than my glock 19 I know it’s more of the 17 size but I can’t stop picking this up I’ve had it for a week now put roughly 200 rounds in it and have no issues besides the squeaky recoil spring and I’m looking in to that wanna break it in more to see if it dissappears later but other than that right out of the box and adding oil before shooting this will run only thing was for the fist two mags first round on both would go in to battery fully but as it being new I really expected something to happen my wife shot it and failures every were but it was user error she limp wristed it and just failure to feed but its perfect for me I love it can’t seem to let go of it let alone leave it home it is my edc and duty weapon but shadow systems you guys got me hooked I will be buying more from you guys and hopefully have the line up
Absolutely amazing is the first thought that crossed my mind the first time you unbox and people drool on it at the range
I bought a DR920 and I liked it so much I decided to get a CR920 since don’t really like carrying a full sized 9mm. It’s too bulky.
I absolutely love this firearm. It shoots like a dream and is very accurate. Magazine changes are smooth and fast. Good job Shadow Systems.
Quality
I’m in love with this pistol to say the least. The customer service on the other hand I’m not sure about. I’ve call several times and left a couple of voicemails and I’ve sent an email. I’m still waiting for someone to respond.
Five stars!
Great attention to important details as well consumer wanted details. Superior grip with the addition of being able to adjust the grip angle truly make their guns not only easier to control but also make it so for a much broader range of shooters. not to mention the superior grip texture and slide cuts, as well as by far the best “from the factory” optics system. Perhaps better than all that, is the attention they seem to pay to their consumers, whether it be to improve on certain features or add certain features. I can’t say enough good things about shadow systems thus far, I like them so much so that I currently own 3 and will probably be adding a 4th soon. My only hopes are, as they continue to grow, they keep up the fantastic customer service, and I’m hoping that in the near future they add a G43X sized model to the line up, or at least something in a subcompact model.
I have owned and been shooting Glock pistols for 30 years now.
The Shadow Systems DR920 is the perfect modernization of a great platform.
You simply can not beat the value of these pistols for all the custom features, the fit and finish, the performance.
No other optic mounting system compares to these.
Recently acquired the Shadow Systems DR920 Elite. Put the first 100 through it and it ran like expected. Also put a couple hundred through my MR920 Elite and my War Poet MR920. They all worked great. I am looking forward to see what the future holds for Shadow Systems.
This pistol has become my edc, my competition pistol and my all around never leave home without it.
This firearm gives me the security of being able to perform on my worst day.
I really appreciate the time and effort given to this firearm. Your support is top level and I thank you.
Love the ergonomics, the shoot ability and the forward thinking design! What every striker fire gun should strive to be
Bought the MR920 elite and loved it so much after breaking it in(200 round break in) I have shot over 800 so far through it and it handles great. Had to go back and get its big brother DR920 elite. So now I own 2x shadow elites.
I’ve owned several custom glocks and fully built Glock based platform pistols by various manufacturers over the years. I can honestly say that this is hands down my favorite shooter out of ever one I’ve owned. Shoots supper flat! Extremely accurate, and just plain fun to shoot. On top of outstanding products, their customer service is a thousand times better than ANY brand firearm manufacturer I’ve ever dealt with. Very prompt and personal service. I felt like all my questions were always answers very quickly and like I was talking to a friend on the other end of the line. Not just a client. I plan on doing much more business with them in the future! A++++
Ive lost count of how many rounds ive put through this guy already, but its well over 2k
I got this gun to replace my ss9f and im sure glad I did, its quite the upgrade.
Not only is this pistol very well made, it also looks amazing. Feels absolutely perfect in the hand and the texturing isn’t too abrasive. I’m very happy that I decided to purchase this pistol instead of spending a lot more money and time customizing one myself. Highly recommended.
I like the optic footprint. Accuracy is awesome. Shoots flat. It is very attractive
I do not often leave reviews but must say how pleased I am with this pistol. Brought it home disassembled and cleaned put around 250 rounds thru it. All I can say is WOW!!! Fells great shoots great. Love the sights and trigger pull and basically everything about it! Have a farm made my own range paper and steel targets. At 25 yds I was making that dueling tree steel targets dance. I am not that good a shot 63 years old LOL must be the pistol. My new favorite. Thanks for a great product plus American made big plus for me
This is the best full size I have ever shot!! The low bore axis with the ability to change the angle of the grips, and the ability to apply any optical I wish gave me endless possibilities.
Great ergonomics, extremely light, very good quality. Would recommend to anyone as a carry gun.
Every aspect of the SS MR 920 Elite with a dot optic makes this my favorite handgun…. so much so, I bought 4 more.
I have never been a Glock guy. This is not a Glock clone but rather an amazing firearm that stands on its own. Has everything you would want in a firearm and more. This is only my first Shadow Systems but it won’t be my last.
While I like everything about the looks and feel of my new pistol, I haven’t actually shot it yet.
The correct spacer for my red dot was accidentally left out of the package (stuff happens).
I called Shadow Systems and they had it to me in a very few days. No hassle. I appreciate service like that!
Excellent gun no problems have enjoyed shooting the MR20
This is my 1st Shadow Systems handgun and after shooting it…….it won’t be my last!
I don’t have many what I consider higher end handguns, but this purchase may just push me over that line. Fit and finish are awesome. Weight is great. Balance is just about perfect.
I’m new to Shadow Systems and hadn’t heard much about them prior, but the fact that a handgun of this style, design and quality is made right here in the good ole USA just sealed the deal for me.
Next on the horizon will be the MR920 elite.
Thanks guys for a great 1st purchase from your company
Couldn’t be any more happier with my SS.
Duty? Check! Concealed carry ? Check ! Home defense ? Check! This pistol can do it all with the reliability, accuracy, and straight up performance you need! Forget the 3k custom glock and get this pistol to outperform and outshoot those 3k glocks
Absolutely in love with my 920. Has replaced a few of my 19s for my fav gun. May have to add a few more to the collection!
Your DR920 Elite has been my edc since I bought it around six months ago. Added a Holosun Hs507c and a Bravo owb holster and don’t know I have it on. Have shot it enough to sight in and be comfortable with it but really look forward to putting many more rounds through it when ammo becomes more available. Really satisfied with the purchase Keep up the good work!!
I love these guns. I own a War Piet and a MR920 elite. I’ve run 2k to 3k rounds through my guns a month and I’ve never had a failure. The break in period is very important with these guns but again no failures at all while firing. Thank you Shadow Systems. Great product!
